Team Building & Low Ropes

Program Description:

Is building trust, community, leadership, and good teamwork something you want with in your class then this is what you want during your Silver Lake experience. We have a variety of activities that get everyone thinking, involved and working together.

Grade 1

Locomotion/Travelling Skills
- travel in a variety of ways in different directions in response to signals;
- travel in a variety of ways using different pathways

Stability Skills
- jump forward with control, using a variety of take-offs and landings;
- demonstrate basic static balances without equipment;
- transfer weight from one body part to another

Active Participation/Living Skills
- acquire living skills (e.g. basic problem-solving, decision-making, goal-setting, and interpersonal skills) through physical activities (e.g. games, outdoor pursuits);
- participate in class or small-group discussion activities related to physical activity;
- work co-cooperatively with other;
- demonstrate respect for others in group situations;
- follow safety procedures related to physical activity, equipment, and facilities

Grade 2

Locomotion/Travelling Skills
– travel and change from one kind of locomotion/travel to another (e.g. hopping to skipping);
- travel in a variety of ways, changing pathways and directions

Stability Skills
– jump and land safely, using take-off combinations of one or two feet;
– balance on a variety of body parts, on and off equipment, while stationary and moving (e.g. balancing on a bench without moving, walking forward on a bench);
– transfer their body weight over low equipment in a variety of ways (e.g. from feet to hands to feet)

Active Participation/Living Skills
- acquire living skills (e.g. basic problem-solving, decision-making, goal-setting, and interpersonal skills) through physical activities (e.g. games, outdoor pursuits);
- participate in personal or group goal setting related to physical activity;
- demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills and respectful behaviour in physical activities;
- provide help to and ask for help from group members;
- follow safety procedures related to physical activity, equipment, and facilities

 

Grade 3

Locomotion/ Travelling Skills
- combine various locomotion/travelling movements with changes in direction and level, both with and without equipment (e.g. selecting two ways to travel on a bench while performing a change in direction and level);
- travel in various ways, and dodge stationary objects or opponents

Manipulation Skills
- catch, while stationary, objects of various sixes and shapes using tow hands both above and below the waist

Stability Skills
– balance in different positions, using different body parts and levels;
- move their bodies in various ways (e.g. over, under, through and around equipment)

Active Participation/Living Skills
- acquire living skills (e.g. basic problem-solving, decision-making, goal-setting, and interpersonal skills) through physical activities (e.g. games, outdoor pursuits);
- follow safety procedures related to physical activity, equipment, and facilities
